A family-run business

Originally founded by Lucien Rose in 1949, the ROSE Group established its roots in the heart of Côtes-d’Armor, in Saint-Gouëno, Brittany (France).

Bolstered by this expertise, Michel Rose, the founder’s son, took over the family business, which specialised in wood construction, to continue the profession.

In 1991, the ROSE Group flourished and the head office moved to Lamballe (22) by the main RN 12 road, between Saint-Brieuc and Rennes.

With a fierce desire to manage the quality of the buildings and products offered to customers, the ROSE Group founded PROTAC in 1995 to ensure, first off, the purchasing, then the planing and treatment of the wood used for farm buildings. These buildings, specifically designed for pigs, are designed, manufactured, transported and installed throughout France by the teams at ROSE Charpente, a subsidiary of the ROSE Group.

Responsible for the main breakthroughs in its sector, ROSE Charpente continues to innovate and seek out new solutions in response to real-life problems. “Useful innovation” is its slogan, in the belief that there is no point in an innovation if it is not useful and relevant, or does not respond to a customer need.

PROTAC then diversified by building up its business in timber products for housing and outdoor spaces.

By investing heavily in a logistics platform, cutting-edge mechanisation and 2 high-performance finishing lines.

The company now offers a wide range of treated or natural wood cladding, painted panels, terraces, fences and construction timber.

With an ongoing emphasis on quality, the ROSE Group bought the Estonian company Puidukoda in 2013.
Just like Protac, Puidukoda specialises in timber manufacturing (after felling and sawing). The company is ideally located between Scandinavia and Russia, on the Baltic Sea, making the import of wood easier. It also provides an opportunity to grow internationally with already effective markets in more than 25 countries, including India, South Korea and China.
